Doumar’s Cone and BBQ is home to the world’s first ice cream cone machine and it’s still in operation! This drive-in dining establishment still has curb service too. If you happen to miss the cone making, I’ve filmed it below!
Inside you’ll find bar-stool dining where you can eat ice cream in a freshly made cone, enjoy an old fashioned shake, or dive into a float. You can even purchase cones to go and use them at home.
BBQ is also on the menu and one of my travel companions gave a thumbs up to the fries.
I was there to watch the cone making. Seeing the machine in action was a big highlight during my time in Norfolk!
We got to meet Albert Doumar!
It’s really fun in color too!
I’m allergic to dairy, so, sadly I did not get to taste any of the goodies at Doumar’s, but I saw plenty of people enjoying their treats. If you can eat dairy, stop by and have one for me!
