My first true exploration into Swedish cuisine was my experience at Häktet Restaurant in the Södermalm area of Stockholm.
I enjoyed the short walk from Hotel Rival and wandered through a beautiful archway that led into a courtyard. I wasn’t certain where to check-in for my reservation, but since it was still early, the environment wasn’t hectic.
At this point in my travels, Häktet is the best Gastropub I’ve been to, setting the bar quite high.
The menu changes with the seasons and available produce. I shared my allergies and food preferences with the wait staff and easily found options that I wish I had written down. The chef was very accommodating and my palate was pleased as I began to get acquainted with new flavor combinations.
As you can see, dill is an integral part of Swedish fare. I love dill! I actually had no idea how much until I visited Sweden.
I enjoyed my time at Häktet immensely and once I finished my dinner, I moved over to the bar for another glass of wine.
The vision is a creative one and the atmosphere reflects this with its decor, style, and music selection. I truly never wanted to leave!
Get yourself a table stat! Reservations highly recommended.
May your journey be your muse,
Rachel
